FROM THE EAST

Greetings from the East, Brethren.

I find it a much more challenging task than I had anticipated to write this message. As the final message I will write as Worshipful Master of Mt. Rose Lodge No. 40 — and the last ever for the lodge — it feels somewhat surreal.

It was with great enthusiasm and pride that I accepted the honor of serving as Master of our lodge, and I am deeply grateful for the confidence my Brothers placed in me. Early in the year, I faced some very difficult decisions. After careful consideration and much reflection — and with the steadfast support of my officers — we concluded that change was necessary. The decision to consolidate Mt. Rose No. 40 with Wadsworth Lodge No. 25 was not made lightly, but it proved to be the most logical and beneficial path forward.

I have been inspired by the overwhelming support from everyone involved and encouraged by what this means for the future success of our fraternity. Though it is with mixed emotions that I bring Mt. Rose Lodge to its conclusion, I do so knowing that we are continuing our legacy — not ending it.

On a personal note, the warmth and brotherhood I have experienced in our new home have been truly uplifting. I look forward to supporting our soon-to-be Worshipful Master, Brother Jim Dickerson, from my station in the West at our first stated meeting on Friday December 5th. For those interested, the Past Masters Degree for Brother Dickerson will be held on December 13th, followed by Officer Installation on December 20th.

It was also a great honor to represent Mt. Rose in Virginia City at the “Masons on the Mountain” event — an experience that will not soon be forgotten. I would also like to welcome Brother Daniel Marquez, the final Entered Apprentice of Mt. Rose Lodge, to our proud and ancient order. I look forward to walking beside him on his Masonic journey.

I hope to see all of you at our final meeting on November 5th, as we gather in fellowship one last time to close the lodge with dignity and pride.

Thank you, my Brothers, for your unwavering support. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as Worshipful Master of Mt. Rose Lodge No. 40.

Upon the Square
Ron LaBlue, Worshipful Master

"Masonic labor is purely a labor of love. He who seeks to draw Masonic wages in gold and silver will be disappointed. The wages of a Mason are in the dealings with one another; sympathy begets sympathy, kindness begets kindness, helpfulness begets helpfulness, and these are the wages of a Mason." ~ Benjamin Franklin
